Popping the Question to Your Bridesmaids

Your bridesmaids are a big part of making your wedding successful - they're there to give support, advice on everything from fashion to seating charts, and calm you down when the stress levels start rising.

Wouldn't it be fun to have an extra special way to ask them to play that important role?

We found this on Pinterest and loved it!!

Perfect right?! Not that you have to get down on one knee or anything.... :)

We thought this was such a cute, but meaningful, way to ask your best girlfriends to be a part of such a huge moment in your life.

Do you have a great way you'll be asking your bridesmaids to be in your wedding? Tell us about it!

DIY Outdoor Beverage Station

More and more of my couples are adding fun outdoor elements to their weddings, especially come the Fall season. From outdoor casual rehearsal dinners, to s'mores stations at the wedding reception, brides and grooms are choosing to utilize the gorgeousness that is nature here in Gainesville, FL.

I saw this great DIY project on Lil' Luna and thought it worked on so many different levels (pun intended!), and could be used over and over again after the event!

Cute, right?! Picture it at the start of a buffet for your rehearsal dinner or laid-back reception, or filled with marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate next to a bonfire. Get coordinating paper goods in your wedding colors, and it's perfect!

Turns out it's a pretty simple project too. You'll need:  A Beverage Tub, Pails, Galvanized Pipes Connectors and End Caps, and J-B Weld.

You can see the step-by-step instructions here.

Cheap, easy and adorable! (That's my idea of the perfect DIY project!)

Added benefit - how awesome would it be for tailgating too?!?!

Would you use this at your next event?

Easy DIY Gold Vases!

I love easy DIY projects, especially for brides! I always tell my brides to pick projects for your wedding that you can complete way ahead of time and are stress free. Don't get me wrong - DIY projects can completely make a wedding! Those personal touches add so much meaning to the event and make it customized to you guys as a couple. But really, who wants to be up to 1:00 am the week of their wedding tying 100 bows on something?

This project is perfect for a bride that wants an extra touch for her tables but doesn't want to spend a ton of time (or money!) - AND it's gorgeous!!

Aren't they pretty?!

All you need to make your own are:

Cheap Glass Vases
Painter's Tape
Metallic Spray Paint

Simply tape off your design and spray on the paint! (two coats should do it, and don't wait too long to peel off the tape)

Check out Two Twenty One for the complete tutorial here!

You can see that she taped down her design and then added a little extra for the rim. Filling the center prevents the spray getting on the inside as well.

The patterns are endless! Each of your tables could be a different look, adding unique touches throughout. You could use any metallic or color of paint - or mix it up - or go for an ombre effect!

And yes - I HAD to add the picture with the gold Gator! What a classy way to include your UF Pride! Go Gators!! :) (Can you tell I'm counting down the days to football season?!)

What do you think of this project? Easy, inexpensive, and impressive! Do you agree?

Easy DIY Dahlia Centerpiece

Happy Monday everyone!

Summer is simply flying by! August is right around the corner, which means... we're coming up on my favorite time of year - FALL!

I thought that a little early Fall inspiration was in order with this incredibly simple (and gorgeous!) Dahlia centerpiece I found on Karin Lidbeck's Blog. August & September are peak season for these pretty flowers. What better way to showcase them than with this?

Dahlia Centerpiece via Karin Lidbeck
It's so simple, but makes such a statement on a table!

Dahlia Centerpiece via Karin Lidbeck
To make it yourself, you'll need a shallow basin that holds water, Dahlias in a variety of colors, and some floating candles.

Cut the stems short to float the flower heads, add the candles, and Ta-Da - you're done!

This would make such a beautiful centerpiece for your reception tables! Doing rectangular tables? Long rectangular, or a mix of square and rectangular, basins would be fantastic too! You could even group smaller basins of different heights for a totally different look as well.

Are you getting married in early Fall? What seasonal flowers are you using at your wedding?

Flip Flop Dancing Shoes

While digging out my flip flops after Wednesday's post, I stumbled upon this and though - "Adorable!"

Flip Flop Dancing Shoes via Wedding Chicks
It reads: "Help yourself to a pair of Dancing Shoes and leave your excuses under the table!"

How fun, right? This is great for any type of outdoor event where guests partying in heels wouldn't be preferable. Don't the buckets of flip flops look super cute?

It's such a great, usable, favor for guests!

What do you think?

 Happy Friday everyone! :)

Summer Wedding Fun!

Summer has hit in full force here in Florida and I'm dying to find time to hit the beach!

I saw this idea for a beach ceremony and it made me run to grab my flip-flops!

via Ruffled
Isn't it so fun?!?! They had their guests toss mini beach balls after the "I-do's!"

via Ruffled
I just love this! They're so colorful, they stand out easily in the pictures and make such a fun and cute favor for guests.

A version of this would be neat as well for places where confetti or birdseed and rice isn't allowed. You could have mini pom-poms or solid color balls in your wedding colors for guests to toss. They'd be easy to clean-up quickly with no mess left behind at your ceremony site.

Are you having your ceremony on the beach? Tell us about your beachy details!

Switching Sides for Parents at Your Ceremony

I know that I've mentioned before how much I love reading the Planning Forever Events Blog by Saundra Hadley. I was catching up on it the other day and read her post about parents being seated on the "wrong sides" at ceremonies. I thought it was such a cool idea - I had to share it with you guys too!

So the story goes that she was coordinating a ceremony and something inadvertently got switched up and the parents sat down on opposite sides from their bride/groom child. Traditionally, Brides stand on the left with the Groom on the right. Typically, each person's parents will then sit directly behind them as well. In this case, the parents mixed things up and sat on the wrong sides of the aisle.

After this "oops!" moment, she realized how amazing this actually is, and I agree!

via Happily Ever Strader
You see, if the parents don't follow tradition, their view is totally different! They actually get to see their son or daughter's face as they say their vows, rather than the back of their heads! Brilliant, right?!

via Jamilah Photography
If it was your child up there, wouldn't you want to see their expressions, tears, joy, and happiness during one of the most important moments of their lives? When I think about how I'll feel at my three boys' weddings (many, many, many years from now!) I know I'd want to be on the opposite side too.

It would work for pictures as well! The photographer would be able to get a shot of your parents watching you while you say your vows. You're smiling, and they'd be in the picture, witnessing it.

I just love re-inventing traditions! Would you mix things up at your wedding like this?

Fourth of July Patriotic Wedding Ideas

Tomorrow's the Fourth of July - one of my favorite parts of Summer! I couldn't resist showing you all some fun, chic, Fourth of July inspired wedding ideas! They'll have you whistling "God Bless America" along with "The Wedding March" in no time!

via Minnesota Bride
Isn't this table gorgeous?! I love how classy and completely patriotic it is, all wrapped into one!

via Engaged & Inspired
If you're going all red, white & blue - why not go vintage 50's glam too? I love how they mixed the bridesmaid colors.

via Minnesota Bride
What Fourth of July wedding is complete without sparklers? I think the specialized tags are the perfect touch, add your date and done!

via Pinterest
Isn't this the best idea? Complete place settings for guests, all together - silverware, napkin, and drink glass. I'd put a cute tag around it and make it the escort card as well. Genius and so pretty displayed!

via The Knot
I swooned over these shoes!!! How about you?

Are you considering a patriotic wedding? Tell us about your red, white and blue details!

Happy Fourth of July everyone! Stay safe & God Bless America!! :)

Vintage Shutter Table Runners

I saw this and thought that it would be beautiful for spring weddings!

Re-purposing vintage items is such an awesome (and affordable!) way to personalize your wedding. I love how these shutters look on the table, especially with the colorful runner underneath!

via Karin Lidbeck
You can find old shutters at flee markets and places like garage sales. The key is to find ones that are small enough to allow room for the plates on the table, so make sure that you know your table size before you go hunting.

It'd be great to stain them to match your color scheme or to leave them in the variety of stains and colors you find them in for a more eclectic look. You can tie them all together with picking similar or coordinating items for the flowers.

How do you like this look? Are you incorporating vintage shutters in your big day?
